Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Construct Enterprises LLC ("Construct," "we," "us") collects when you use PaperWorkZ (the "Software") and our related websites and license services, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to license, deliver, and support the Software:
- Account & activation data: the email address you provide and your Vectorworks license serial number, which we use to issue and bind your license key.
- License-validation data: when the Software activates and during its periodic online validation (the "phone-home" check), we process your license key, the associated Vectorworks serial and activation identifier, the machines/seats using the license, license status, and the date and time of validation. This enforces your subscription and seat limit.
- Payment data: your purchase is handled by Stripe as merchant of record — Stripe, not Construct, takes the payment, issues your receipt, and collects and remits sales tax. Stripe collects your payment and billing details directly on its own checkout, under Stripe's privacy policy, and for that transaction Stripe acts as an independent controller of your data rather than as our processor. We receive back only confirmation of the purchase, the product and tier, and limited billing details (such as your name, email, and country). We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Technical & log data: when your device contacts our license and web services, our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) processes standard request information such as your IP address, timestamp, and request metadata to deliver the service and protect against abuse.
- Support communications: if you email us, we receive your message and contact details to respond.
We do not collect the contents of the Vectorworks drawings or paperwork you create; that content stays on your device and the systems you choose to use.
2. How we use it
- To create, deliver, activate, validate, and enforce your license and seat entitlement;
- To process your purchase and renewals and to send transactional messages, including your license key and license-recovery links, to the email address on your order;
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- To maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the Software and services and to prevent fraud or abuse;
- To comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell or "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under U.S. state privacy laws.
3. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to license and deliver the Software); our legitimate interests (to secure and support the services and prevent abuse); legal obligation (tax and accounting); and, where required, your consent.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection terms:
- Cloudflare — hosting, license Worker, and database infrastructure;
- Microsoft — outbound email delivery (for license keys and service messages).
Stripe is different. Because Stripe is the merchant of record for your purchase, it is not one of our processors: it determines its own handling of the payment and tax data you give it, as an independent controller under its own privacy policy. We exchange with Stripe only what is needed to fulfil and support your order.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice where required). We do not sell your personal information.
5. On-device storage
The Software stores data locally on your device — for example, your show/paperwork working state and a cached copy of your license status — so the app can function, including offline during the grace period. This local data stays on your device. Our web application uses local storage for essential app functionality rather than advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Retention
We keep account, license, and activation records for as long as your license is active and for a reasonable period afterward to support renewals, recovery, security, and legal, tax, and accounting requirements, after which we delete or anonymize them. You may request deletion as described below.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Because we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of in that respect. To exercise any right, email construct.ent@gmail.com; we will verify your request and respond as required by law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
8. Security
We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, including encrypted transport, scoped credentials, and license keys that are validated server-side. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers. By using the Software, you understand your information may be processed in the United States.
10. Children
The Software is a professional tool intended for use by adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
